There are always so many things I desire in life, to be a certain weight, to have so much money in savings, to have things done around my house, especially now with being a mom goals and accomplishments I want to fulfill with Macie. However all of these things in the end are worldly desires and thoughts, though many are good and many are selfish they are still all worldly. Mark these past couple of weeks has really had are family thinking a lot about being less worldly and focusing more on the Savior and how to love and help others more. He quoted a Scripture to me the other day... "Many are called but few are chosen and why are they not chosen, because there Hearts are set upon the things of this world." It really had us both thinking are we individuals that are called but sadly not chosen or called and chosen. I feel that I am not a chosen one yet, but desire so to be. So as I look ahead to accomplishing many goals and tasks this year the only important one the only one I hope to commit to 100% is to try and live my life to be a chosen one.
2013 GOAL
- Read or watch something everyday besides my Scriptures about the Savior.

I have a lot of work to do on this goal as well. In a talk last week a girl talked about an optical course she took in school (so you can probably relate). She said there is something called resolution ability or the ability to discern between two objects. She drew an analogy and said as we draw closer to the Saviour it becomes easier for us to discern between worldly things and our Saviour. Whenever I start feeling worldly I feel like turning to some "Approaching Zion" by Hugh Nibley. If someone had offered me a fortune after I had just finished reading that book I seriously would have been sprinting in the opposite direction. He makes the difference between Zion and Babylon so clear cut. It's a huge eye-opener.
ReplyDeleteAlso, assuming you and Mark don't know a Travis we think that is the name for your Traverse. If you know someone named Travis then it won't work and we'll go back to the drawing board!
