Our little Macie was hit with a nasty flu bug that has had her non stop throwing up and diarrhea. This afternoon things took a turn for the worse when she threw up, all of a sudden her legs and feet started turning purple. It freaked me out and I went straight to the ER. I found out at the ER that that is normal but I was so glad I felt inspired to go as her fever spiked to 103 and she was getting crazy dehydrated. The doc immediately ordered an IV and some blood work. That was definitely the worst thing I have had to see so far as a mother, as the nurses had to hold her body and pin it down a whopping 5 times before they got an IV to take. I have never seen my little girl cry so hard. After the IV was in she had to give blood, which was just as unpleasant as the IV. Thankfully all the blood work came back good, we are just waiting on a stool sample and for the doc to release her once he thinks she has enough fluid in her. It is a good bet to say now that Macie hates needles and nurses, which is to bad because they have all been fantastic and are just doing there job, sadly she does not understand that. I have never seen my crazy active fun little girl so lethargic before in her life. She has had flus and fevers before but this one definitely sucked the life out of her.

So heartbreaking :( I would have been a mess. How are you holding up Kalinda?
ReplyDeleteHow awful! It is so hard when children are scared because they can't understand that they are being helped. I get to experience it on Thursday for Harland's surgery. I feel ill every time I think of it.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear Kalinda! That is awful! I wish you guys lived closer, Trent would've gotten her iv in on the first time! :) Hugs to you all and we hope she keeps getting better!
