Well it will definitely be my most crazy labour story to tell, also my scariest and most spiritual, as Heavenly Father was watching over me and especially Kansas all day. I will begin buy telling you that I tested positive for this bacteria called GBS a couple weeks ago at a Doctor's appt. It is nothing that can harm me, I only carry the strain of it, however because it lives in your uterus, when the baby delivers she can come in contact with it and contract it, which can be very bad and evenly deadly for the baby. With that in mind my Doctor told me at any signs of Labour, or anytime you have any kind of discharge I must come to the hospital right away, so if Labour is happening they need to put me on an IV antibiotic so baby will have way less of a chance for contracting GBS. So with that in mind here goes the story. I woke up Sunday Morning to a hard contraction, and I lost my mucus plug. I went and got my Mom as Mark was away at work and told her we needed to go to the hospital. We got the kids ready for church and a friend came and took them for the day for us. When we got to the hospital Dr Karim came and checked me and I was only 2.5 cm's dilated and was not having any consistent contractions. I thought for sure she would send us home, and she almost did, however at the last minute she decided to send me to Bonnyville as they had no Theatre to do surgeries in with summer and a shortage of staff. She said just incase anything goes wrong and we have to do a section we wouldn't be able to do one here so all Deliveries are being sent to Bonnyville. So they put me in the ambulance and sent me on my way. On the drive there I had some good hard contractions and when the Doctor came in and checked me I was now at 4 cms. He said lets wait 4 hours and see what happens. So next came walking the halls, stairs, and anything else to get things going. For the next 4 hours I had quite a bit of contractions and they where coming on harder. When he came to check me again I was now at 6 cm's and so he decided to break my water and get the ball going. Within 5 minutes I started feeling gross and the contractions where coming on strong and way more painful and every 5 minutes. I decided at this point I needed some drugs. The Nurses went and got the Anesthesiologist but in the mean time gave me some Fentanyl. It did help with the pain but was the worst feeling ever. I felt like I Could barely lift my hands and became so nauseas and light headed. Within 20 minutes I was throwing up and could barely control myself. Thankfully the Anesthesiologist showed up and started to work his magic. After I got settled though with the Epidural everything went crazy from there. Kansas heart rate dropped down to 80 and for a good 10 minutes they could not get it to come back up. They called to the Doctors and the Doctors said to start prepping for a Section and we will come up right away, buy the time the Doctors came up her Heart rate had finally came up again to about 110 so there was hope we could maybe deliver Vaginally, however when the Doctors checked me I had not dilated at all since my last check but was having constant contractions, as well Kansas was not positioned the right way and they saw baby Poop. They immediately ordered the emergency section and said we need to get this baby out right away. Within 10 minutes they had me in surgery and were working on getting Kansas out. I finally breathed probably for the first time in 40 minutes when I saw her beautiful head over the sheet. It was the scariest 30 minutest of my life, but Heavenly Father put some amazing Nurses, Doctors and my husband there to help keep me calm. Every step that was made that day was to keep Kansas safe. From Dr Karim sending me to Bonnyville right away when most Doctors probably would have sent me home as I was not that far dilated and having no heavy contractions, to the Epidural coming when it did, so they could get me in to surgery right away. And in some ways to her heart rate dropping, they probably wouldn't have called down to the doctors and started prepping for the Section if her heart rate wasn't dropping and would have just kept working me through the contractions and getting ready for Labor. With having the GBS in me, the Nurses said they wouldn't be checking me as often as usual cause that increases baby's chance of catching GBS. With the Doctors coming up so early on and checking her and seeing things where not good for baby they were able to get her out safely and stop anything bad from happening. It is day 5 now and we are all so in Love with her. She is so sweet and so precious. She has a full head of brown hair with lighter brown highlights, super skinny legs, hands and feet, and the sweetest chubbiest cheeks ever.
