Kalispell Family Vacation

This summer we bought an old used tent trailer to create some family fun and memories. Unfortunately the cover we had re-done was not ready in time so we ended up having to truly tent it, and it was a great experience. Everyday was filled with fun, sunshine, playing, tears, naps in the truck and ice cream.

Day 1: Sunday
-  We spent Saturday night at Mark's brothers house (Dani) and found a 9:00 church in Cardston to go to, then headed to our campsite in Whitefish MT after that. It was one of the most beautiful drives we had ever been on and the kids were amazing. I had bought some sticker books for Macie and she pretty much did that the whole entire time or sang songs. Wade napped or played with toys. We arrived at our camp site and found it to be one of the best campsites ever. All you can eat breakfast every morning, a small petting zoo, bounce houses that were set up everyday, paddle boats, a swimming pool, banana bikes, ridiculously nice clean bathrooms and showers. We spent the rest of Sunday checking out whitefish and Kalispell, setting up our site and planning our week of fun.

Days 2: Monday

We headed to the Big Sky Waterpark for some waterslide fun. It was a nice day but windy and cloudy so nice when we clouds went away, but a little chilly when the clouds came out. We mostly swam in the big hot tub that they kept more luke warm. Macie is really improving on her swimming skills and starting to really enjoy going under the water for longer periods. Wade loved the water and splashing around, we then headed back to camp for supper and playing at the campsite. Macie loved the park and bounce houses. One was the slide kind and loved to go time after time after time. Wade loved crawling around on the grass and going on the swing.

what a great smile
Day 3: Tuesday

We headed out nice and early to Whitefish Mountain to go for a Gondola and Alpine ride. It was another cloudy morning and the temperature was a little colder but nothing a sweater can't fix. The drive up the Mountain was beautiful and filled with these insanely huge Cabins. When Macie saw the Gondola she thought it was a Helicopter and was so excited we were going on a Helicopter ride. She couldn't stop talking about it and every time we passed one on the way up the mountain she would shout "look a helicopter". The Alpine slide was so much fun Wade held onto Mark pretty tight and Macie was loving every second of it. The Sun decided to come out so we then headed to Whitefish to walk around the beautiful touristy town. Sort of looked like a Banff or Waterton type place, only a lot bigger. Then back to camp for Supper. We then headed to Kalispell to hit up costco for some Ice Cream and to see what there prices are compared to the states. The Ice Cream at Costco was way bigger then in Canada and we maybe shouldn't have ordered three of them, but Macie almost downed the whole thing and Mark finished what Macie and I couldn't. Another great day and the Mountain was beautiful.

Day 4: Wednesday

The day the Sun came out. It was Sunny all day long, not a cloud in the sky and no wind, so we had no choice but to hit up the beach all day long. The kids loved it and played in the sand and water all day. We then headed back to our campsite to play on the paddle boats and at the park. That night we headed into Kalipsell for an air conditioned restaurant and the best Asian Buffet we have ever been too. It had an extra bonus of all you can eat Sushi, so delicious. That night was a crazy thunderstorm and rained all night long, thank goodness for a tent that kept us dry all night.

Day 5: Thursday

We loved the Whitefish Mountain so much we decided to head up there again and do two more Alpine Slides, each taking turns with the kids. It was so fun and we decided on our last ride to walk back up instead of taking the chair lift and Macie walked the whole way, it wasn't to0 far but a steep incline, I was so proud of her. We then went to Whitefish for some homemade Huckelberry ice cream. Hands down the best Ice Cream I have ever had. Then we headed into Kalipsell to hit up "The Zone", this family fun center, kind of like a chucke cheese only way cheaper and lots funner. Then we did some shopping and hit up the best drive thru burger joint we have ever eaten at. The burgers and fries were amazing and we had to get some huckelberry milkshakes to top it off. I don't think I could ever get sick of huckelberry ice cream.

Day 6: Friday

Time to pack up and head home. We got out of there pretty quick and headed for Cardston to spend some time with Mark's family and visit with some friends at a 50th Wedding Anniversary party for Bill of Bob Michel, cousins to Mark's dad. We then did something crazy as the kids were done and ready to be home. We headed back to Lloydminster at 9:00 at night. We didn't get home till 5:00 in the morning but it was peaceful and the kids pretty much slept the whole way. We are still recovering from loss of sleep but it was so nice to sleep in our own bed, and spend all day Saturday cleaning up.

The Trip was amazing and we had so much fun, definitely going back again, the kids were so good, traveled amazing, Macie slept incredible at night in the tent. Wade did pretty good just up every morning nice and early. The weather although it was not booming hot was always nice when we needed it to be, and the views were spectacular. Now just to run off the 5 lbs we gained from eating all that huckleberry Ice Cream.
