WEEKEND WARRIORS

WEEKEND WARRIORS

For the past few months since Mommy started work, daddy and the kids have been weekend warriors.

The three of us get ready the same time as mommy. Daddy helps the kids get dressed, feeds them breakfast, gathers snacks and diapers, and even puts Macies hair in a pony tail. The destination- Parent link. Cold Lakes best free children's indoor playground and toy zone. Did I mention free...

It is always a struggle to get on the coats and boots and get out the door, but we manage to be some of the first families there ready to play at 900am. Wade always asks "playground, playground?" He loves the "playground"

Parent Link is really cool. There are so many toys to choose from. and They are cool toys. Wade loves the train set and the dinosaurs. The train set is on a small table screwed together, that has many different options to drive a train around and around. The dinosaurs are sweet. huge and cool looking. They always get a few moments for sure. The Kitchen has been garnering Wades attention and he loves to take the burger patty and give it to daddy saying "cookie". Dad loves the plastic burger cookie.
Macie is great on the play ground. She goes up and down on the slide and runs all around the top portion and waves through the windows making sure daddy waves back. Daddy has ventured a time or two up into the play ground, even enjoying a joyride down the slide a few times. Careful, the roof is low in the children playground.

Macie also loves colouring and doing crafts. Crafts of note:
  • Hot Mug picture colouring. She coloured a piece of paper that sits around a hot mug, which was suppose to be daddies, but mace loved it too much to pass over.
  • Similar idea but with a potting plant- Macie planted a few pink flowers - no buddy yet (Wade's Bean Sprout is kicking major chicken)
  • oblek-  made with white glue and borax, super cool feeling- similar to silly putty.
There is also a mini Trout hatchery going on now. The centre obtains a license to spawn rainbow trout.
We enjoy looking each week to see the development of the hatchlings. Eggs, Alvins, Frys and adults.
Right now the fish are at the alvin stage.

A few weeks ago, we were invited to a baptist bouncy castle event in Bonnyville. Being the weekend warrior I am, we were all over that. The event was at the sports centre. One whole field house was dedicated to the group. There were 5 bouncy castles and 5000 mini beach balls.
Wade spent much of his time running through the beach balls and kicking them and as many of them as far as he could. Laughing the whole time. Macie loved the bouncy castles. There were 3 obstacle courses, 1 slide, and 1 plane jane. She loved the slide and a 2 of the obstacle courses. She has no fear. Climbing up one wall and jumping down the other side. Most children just slide but not Macie. We were only there for a bout 2 hours as Wade was showing major signs of sleepy syndrome, so we left a bit early.
Macie had her first taste of carny food- Corndogs. She kind of liked them.. but only ate about 1/4 of it before jumping all over the purple snow cones.
Wade only went for the chips and green snow cones.

Today was a bit slower as Wade was feeling a bit under the weather. We broke out Daddies old Lego and played pirates. Daddy built a pretty cool ship, in which he was the captain and Macie was first mate. Wade fell in love with the lego alligators and sharks. He spent a bit of time brawling with them. The wrest of the day was batman focused. Wade is in love with batman. Dinosaurs may be lost forever. He runs around the house exclaiming "batman, I'm batman!!" Today Cat woman(Cobalt)got the best of batman. While Batman was running near a chair, the sly cat, took a swipe at the dark knight. He didn't like that. of course Cat woman only wanted to play, she jumped down and chased him, but Batman must be allergic to cats cause he ran up the white flag and ran to daddy. The remaining time spent as Batman, he was very cautious around Cat woman.

HOCKEY NIGHT IN BONNYVILLE

Devon Social Club organized a night at the rink. Junior A Hockey in the VIP room at the RJ Lalonde arena in Bonnyville with good food and good seats.

Daddy and the kids braved a night out, with no naps and a late dinner. To say Macie and Wade were excited about seeing a hockey game is an understatement. They couldn't wait to get there and see the hockey game. It was going to be a very long day for them so Daddy was a bit nervous to take them out, but it was a free night and a chance for them to meet new friends and get acquainted with Canada's sport.
The party started at 6 o'clock, Daddy drove home from work to pick up the kids and take them back to Bonnyville. Time wise it all worked out well. We arrived at the arena at 10 min to 6. There were some people already in the VIP room with some munchies. There was an area for the kids to play some mini stick hockey, luckily we brought a few mini sticks. There were a few 7-10 year old boys already playing. They were awesome to let the 2 and 4 year old uncoordinated children try to whack around the ball in an unanticipated direction.
Soon enough Macie and Wade were famished, and need sustenance. They started  pounding the party mix, apparently Wade loves pretzels over cheezies, who knew.  The Pizza and veggie trays did arrive in time for the kids not to completely ruin there appetite, and they did eat some greens, believe it or not.
After the meal the kids went back the the mini hockey and someone brought a plastic bowling set. They played hard for some time until the players started coming out to practice. Macie watched intently and for a moment I thought for sure this night was going to turn out ok. The zamboni cam out and started doing its thing, while we went and sat in the stands. It was pretty cold in the arena, so as you can guess our sitting didn't last to long. Once the zamboni was done so were the kids. Back up the room to play with whatever and whoever was left.  After that it was in and out and in and out, and lots and lots of whining.
I don't believe the kids will ever be as excited for a hockey game ever again, as this experience has shown they were not too into the actual game. And that may not be a bad thing...
All in all, I have enjoyed spending time with  and getting to know those little people. They can be so much fun.

PICS OF THE KIDDOS

I am definitely no photographer, and I don't have any kind of set up in my house to take good photos, but seeing as it has been over a year since we got professional pics of the kids, I figured it was time to pull out my good camera and get a couple pics of the kiddos to at least update photos in the house. Hopefully this summer we will get family pics that will look much better. It does helps though when you have a decent camera and cute kids, to get decent pics without having to see a professional.

Getting pretty!!!

Macie loves getting ready with Mom when I am doing my hair and makeup. This morning as I was getting ready for work she asked in her adorable pretty pretty please voice if she could put some make up on and if she could do it herself. I totally caved and let her go at it. She did pretty good on her lips and mascara, but needs some work on her eye shadow. After make up she wanted her hair done all cute and I couldn't say no to that either. I can't lie I love moments like this with Macie without a doubt some of my favourite things to do with her is hair, getting dressed and make up.

And yes my bedroom is that dirty all the time lately :(
