TO BUILD, TO BUY, OR TO JUST STAY PUT???

These questions have been plaguing my mind all weekend, as I was looking at tile, hardwood, carpet, doors, cabinets, and endless paint colors. My wonderful mother drew up an amazing floor plan that I have fallen in love with, the colors I have been looking at, look amazing together.
It makes perfect sense as we are hoping to have a family soon, being in Lloydminster would be so much more convenient. Even if we don't start a family it would be so much nicer. The biggest deciding factor would be if we can sell our house for what we need to. Our Realtor is hopefully coming out on Monday to give us an assessment, let's just pray it is a high number so we can build, or buy. Ahhh build or buy, building is what I really want to do, but buying is so much easier. Anyone with experience what do you recommend, and when I mean build or buy I mean we would be for sure getting something brand new, we just can't decide if we let somebody build it for us with there house plans or we contract out all the work ourselves and do whatever we want. We'll time to get some sleep as I think about all these decisions, yeah right.

  1. Tough choices eh? There are definatly +'s to both. Maybe talk to some builders here in town and feel out both ways?
That would be fun if you guys were in Lloyd!

  2. You have to build at least once, it is such an awesome experience to get to make the house all yours, no one else has lived there and you picked out everything. The other hard part about buying is that because Mom does design such fabulous layouts, its really hard to find something that flows and uses every square inch to its fullest. The hard part with building is it takes more time, and there can always be problems which can delay move in dates and you can end up being homeless for awhile. You would also have to find a builder who is willing to let you use your own house plan.

  3. It's so fun to think about all the options. I hope it's not too stressful. Good luck!
